Working with a real web design or development company is an investment, not an expense. There are plenty of web design 'firms' that will cost less, but you’ll eventually realize and be frustrated with their lack of quality. So why settle for less, when you can afford the best? :)
The term web standards can mean different things to different people. For some, it is 'table-free sites', for others it is 'using valid code'. However, web standards are much broader than that.
A site built to web standards should ideally be lean, clean, CSS-based, accessible, usable and search engine friendly.
Advantages of implementing web standards are :
- Decreased bandwidth and server space
- Improved accessibility to all browsers and devices
- Separation of presentation from content
- Simplified updating of look and feel
- Faster page loading
- Lower costs
